Over the course of his MLB career Dave Roberts has played for the Cleveland Indians Los Angeles Dodgers Boston Red Sox San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants but he earned his greatest measure of fame in 2004 during his one and only season with the Red Sox. Called upon to pinch-run during Game Four of the ALCD against the Yankees with the Sox trailing 4-3 in the bottom of the ninth inning and facing elimination Roberts stole second and scored on a Bill Mueller single. Boston went on to win the game in extra innings and after finishing off the Bombers in the ALCS defeated the Cardinals in the World Series to secure their first Championship in 86 years.
