Talk to baseball purists and most will agree that Gil Hodges belongs in the Hall of Fame. Hodges a stellar first baseman spent a combined 18 years playing for the Brooklyn (and later Los Angeles) Dodgers and the New York Mets crushing 370 home runs scoring more than 1 000 times and driving in nearly 1 300 men. Along the way he won three Gold Glove Awards (the first three ever given) played in eight All-Star Games and was a key cog on the Dodger teams that won the World Series in 1955 and 1959. After his playing days Hodges went on to become a manager guiding the Washington Senators from 1963-1967 and the Mets from 1968-1971. Hodges was at the helm when the Mets won the World Series in 1969. Unfortunately his career and life were cut short on April 2 1972 when he died of a massive heart attack at age 47. This mini dirt collage comes with a photo of Hodges in action a nameplate and actual Dodgers Stadium dirt. This 11x14 collage comes double matted in Dodgers blue and white and comes with a black frame.
