On August 13 1979 Lou Brock collected his 3000th hit off of the Chicago Cubs who 15 years earlier traded him away for a pitcher that only won seven games for the rest of his career. Lou Brock would collect 3000 hits and set the most stolen bases in a career mark at that time. Rickey Henderson achieved a number of milestones in his MLB career. Among his achievements: 1 406 stolen bases (1st all-time and 468 ahead of runner-up Lou Brock) 2 295 runs scored (1st all-time) 3 081 games played (4th all-time) 2 190 walks (2nd all-time behind only Barry Bonds) and 81 leadoff home runs (1st all-time).
