Melky Cabrera was recalled by the New York Yankees from the Bombers' Triple-A affiliate Columbus in May 2006 to replace an injured Hideki Matsui in left field and quickly became a fan favorite. On June 6 2006 Cabrera garnered nationwide attention by deftly stealing a home run from Manny Ramirez in the eighth inning of a Yankees-Red Sox game at Yankee Stadium when Cabrera reached over the left center field wall to retrieve a sharp line drive. The potential home run would have tied the ballgame at 2-2; the Yankees won the game 2-1. Melky Cabrera has hand signed this 2008 All Star baseball.
