Melky Cabrera was recalled by the New York Yankees from the Bombers' Triple-A affiliate Columbus in May 2006 to replace an injured Hideki Matsui in left field. Cabrera garnered nationwide attention on June 6 2006 by deftly stealing a home run from Manny Ramirez in the eighth inning of a Yankees-Red Sox game at Yankee Stadium when Cabrera reached over the left center field wall to retrieve a sharp line drive.
