Mike Piazza entered the 2004 season needing only four home runs to tie the record for most homers hit by a catcher. Carlton Fisk held the original record with 351 home runs. On April 27 2004 Piazza tied the record by hitting crushing a ball to left-center with one out in the sixth off Dodgers pitcher Hideo Nomo at Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers were Piazza's first team and he had in fact caught a Nomo no-hitter. This home run moved Mike Piazza into 58th place all-time on the home run list passing another great Joe DiMaggio. Piazza would break the record on May 5 2004 against the Giants by hitting a Jerome Williams pitch over the wall at Shea Stadium. A sure Hall of Famer Piazza will go down in the record books as one of the greatest hitting catchers of all time. This framed collage includes an 8x10 photograph of Piazza's record-tying home run on the left an 8x10 photograph of his record-breaking home run on the right an actual piece of a Mike Piazza game-used bat and a descriptive nameplate.
