Nolan Ryan Career Accomplishments:
For an incredible 27 seasons, Nolan Ryan was as dominating a pitcher as has ever toed the rubber. His major league record of seven no hitters illustrates his total mastery of the art and science of throwing strikes. He also threw 12 one-hitters and finished his career with an incredible 5,714 K's, another all-time record. His fast ball was regularly clocked near 100 miles per hour. Ryan began his career in 1966 in New York, pitching for the Mets and helping them win the 1969 World Series, then went on to stellar stints with the California Angels, Houston Astros, and Texas Rangers, which included numerous post-season appearances. In 1973, he set a major league single-season record by striking out 383 batters. Nolan Ryan was an eight-time All-Star and was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1999.
