HUNT AUCTIONS ANNOUNCES MAJOR DIMAGGIO SALE
This May, Hunt Auctions will auction off over 1,000 items connected to the legendary New York Yankee Hall of Famer Joe DiMaggio. Among them will be his mounted 1947 MVP Award, an honorary collection of 1936-1996 Yankees, his record-breaking 45th consecutive hit, World Series rings, and a signed photo of Marilyn Monroe.
The Sports Memorabilia auction will occur May 19th-20th . A percentage of the proceeds will go to benefiting the Joe DiMaggio Memorial Children’s Hospital in Hollywood, FL.
Joe DiMaggio died in 1999. He was born in 1914 and grew up in North Beach, CA, where he dropped out of school and joined a San Francisco Minor League team. He played with the Yankees from 1936-1942 and again from 1946-1951 where he earned the nickname “The Yankee Clipper.” Former Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda summed up the Clipper best when he said, "If you said to God, 'Create someone who was what a baseball player should be,' God would have created Joe DiMaggio...and he did."
