Though only 19 years old, Pittsburgh Penguins’ center Sidney Crosby is the ’05 hockey season’s rising star. His conduct on and off the ice have prompted fans and journalists to anoint him the next Marcel Dionne or Wayne Gretzky. And as far as sponsorship appeal, it’s not out of the question to hear comparisons the Lebron James. All of which makes collecting just about anything to do with the young phenomenon—including rookie trading cards and fan apperal — a pricey proposition. But now fans can get their hands on a little piece of the NHL’s October 2005 Rookie of the Month. Stepping up to the net, Upper Deck will be releasing a 20-card box set tribute to the young Center. Details have yet to be revealed, but preliminary report that the Sidney Crosby Phenomenal Beginnings set will cost about $20 and will contain a to-be-determined number of insert autographed sports memorabilia. It is scheduled to be released March 24, and pre-orders are being accepted by sports memoribilia.
